when the cats start to go bad then they cant clean the exhaust stream and the amount of oxygen goes up, which causes the o2 sensor to react. It detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas compared to the outside air and then vehicle's computer adjusts the air/fuel ratio going into the engine. I took it to the dealer and had the service mgr and two mech walking along side my. Took it to the garage today and they said it showed 2 oxygen sensors bad. Recently it started to develop a loud clunky sound from the rear suspension when I hit the brake hard at slow speed both going forward and reverse. What I would try is swapping the 2 downstream sensors and clear A bad oxygen sensor could cause sluggish and rough driving with stalls, along with poor fuel efficiency and high pollution. If the PCM sees O2 sensor codes on one bank, and the O2 sensors are also saying bad cat, it will think its due to bad sensors and ignore the cat code. Can both o2 sensors go bad at the same time.
